The Kremlin gives LED’s top priority

The Russian government emphasizes the LED lighting for energy-efficient lighting solution in the country and strives for a leadership role in terms of energy-efficient lighting in Europe. On March 23rd, 2010 the Presidential commission for modernization announced, that the transition from incandescent bulbs to energy efficient lighting devices, will not take place by implementation of energy-efficient saving lamps (CFLs), but by converting to LEDs directly. The corresponding law should be effective by June of this year.

This new law will result in the Russian lighting industry's escalated adaption to the new conditions. Only one factory in Russia currently manufactures light-emitting diodes. The production capacity (about 10 % of the requirements) obviously does not support wide-range coverage of the industry and the population with LED lights.

Polymer Optics at LED FORUM MOSCOW

Mike Hanney from Polymer Optics will give a presentation on secondary optics. The capability of secondary optics for LED light sources is often underestimated and they are dismissed as high cost, non-essential accessories. Mike Hanney's presentation will show how LED optics can contribute to making luminaires ultra efficient. Mike's presentation will focus on optical techniques, theory of coloured light and colour mixing products for LED sources.

LED programme of Russian Railways Corporation

The non commercial Association of Railway Technologies and ZAO Svetlana-Optoelektronika have organized the first scientific conference "Energy saving technologies in the Russian state-owned company Russian Railways Coroporation". The main topic was the "Perspectives of the introduction of LED technologies". Further information

Russian Railways Company is going to issue a large scale LED investment programme. In 2008, Efin Rosenberg already gave an exclusive overview over the LED investment programme of Russian Railways Corporation in the frame of the 2nd LED FORUM MOSCOW. Download presentation.
