Cree

Mitch Sayers, CREE Europe GmbH

Lighting-Class LEDs are the high power LEDs that have fulfill given minimums of luminous flux (in lumens, lm), efficacy (lm/Watt), quality
of light (currently identified with a Color Rendering Index, or CRI) and reliability (time in operation before reaching a percentage of original
output) to enable the replacement of incumbent lighting sources with LED light.

LED light has many advantages that are readily apparent, including efficiency by being directional (emitting light only within a certain solid
angle, instead of nearly all directions uniformly, as with most light bulbs) without the use of additional optical reflectors or lenses. In
addition, lighting-class LEDs can last for at least 50,000 hours in most cases and do not contain mercury, as most fluorescent and HID
light sources do. However, some benefits to LED light are unique among all light sources, such as reaching full brightness in nanoseconds
and having better efficiency in cold temperatures. All of these advantages of LED light have started a revolution in the lighting industry.

New solid luminaire - Acriche

The issue of energy saving of lighting attracts increased attention both from the public and the state.
New alternative source of energy are being researched, new technologies are being developed to enable the efficient utilization of energy.
Seoul Semiconductor takes actively part in the energy saving as well, it devotes great attention to the development of modern semiconductor technologies to be implemented into the lighting industry.

One of the most recent products are А3, А4 from the Acriche Family: the first semiconductor-based luminaire in the world that is operated without any converter, directly from the alternate current source. .
The complete Achriche-based luminaires are being fabricated already with the lamp bases Е27, Е11, Е14, GU10, PAR, MR16, etc., that are able to replace the conventional incandescent lamps, halogen lamp, luminous tubes, at lamp rating of only 4 to 8 W.

Such product as A4 is of particular interest, as it delivers the lumoinous efficacy of 70 lm/W for warm white light with the high (over 85) light transmittance.
Seoul Semiconductor believes that Acriche will cause the new revolution in the lighting industry, that would outdate all the existing cliché as regards LED lighting.
